The California Dreamin’ competition is a nationwide entrepreneurially-focused higher education competition held at Chapman University in Orange, Ca.    It the second largest university business plan competition plan in the nation with a purse of $250,000 of cash and equity investment in addition to in-kind products.   UNC was one of 35 schools invited.

Let’s Chip in (letschipin.co) is a platform for organizing group gifts with close friends and family for life’s occasions.  The company is focusing on  the baby and wedding gift segments.  Though group gifting is widespread, there are a number of problems with the process, including: 1) Gift organizers don’t get completely reimbursed and 2) collecting and cashing out of different payment forms is inconvenient.  Let’s Chip in solves these problems while also creating a delightful experience for friends and family to reconnect and celebrate important moments together.  The company launched its beta in March, and hopes to release the next version soon.
